Throwback Album of the Day – The Fix – Scarface

I know that this is coming 24 hours after the passing of Whitney Houston, but, although it is a terrible loss, it’s still required of me to deliver good music all throughout. We’re going back 10 years to 2002. It was a good year for hip hop (well ’95 – ’05 were 10 good years in the game), and this album is just another example. Headed more in the southern direction, Scarface is to the South what Tupac was to the West & Biggie was to the East. That may be a little extreme, but a lot of people respected Scarface back when he was in the group, Geto Boyz. He wasn’t exactly mainstream, but he wasn’t 100% underground either. The only music I heard from him was whatever was played on B.E.T to be quite honest. His storytelling ability makes him one of the best to do it in Hip Hop. He had one of the most touching verses when he did ‘This Can’t Be Life,’ and you could tell that he was down to Earth, and most importantly – real. This album is one of those you’d want to have because it’s one of the best that came out in the past 10 years, and a lot of rappers from the south today were inspired by this album. My favourite song on this album is My Block, and the collaboration of Beanie Sigel & Jay – Z on Guess Who’s Back (produced by Kanye West), is also one of my all time favourite songs. So, enjoy this one.
