Classic hip hop. Nas’ first album took the entire world by storm and not only set the standards of hip hop, but also influenced that current generation & future ones to follow. I can honestly say that there is not one flaw on this album. It’s raw, it’s authentic, and the realism of it all made you feel that you were in his place in Queens, NY. The stories conveyed on the album like NY State of Mind to One Love are just a couple of examples of Nas’ groundbreaking technique that left the hip hop world in awe, and decades after its release, it’s still timeless, and listening to it always feels like the first time. So i encourage you to indulge in this album, and also take in the covers of Illmatic done by Elzhi & Fashawn.
