“Hey, Hey, Mr M.I.A, could we get an interview with Mr. Independence Day? You big time, feeling like you made it, graduated, seems like you’re on your way, but they seem to feel some type of way. Ay where you been?”

Las Vegas; what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Of course it’s the casinos, the famous Las Vegas strip, where Tupac died after a high-profile Boxing match; basically in a nutshell: The City of Sin. But unfortunately, the thing that is very often forgot about Las Vegas is that people actually live there, it’s not just a tourist attraction. SeDrew Price is a representative of Las Vegas, and he makes that evident in his music.
“I’m LV down to the Louis Vuitton sneaker”
Now you ask me, “Stixx, how’d you start listening to some dude from a city nobody ever knew had rappers or even people aside from tourists?” Well, great question. I was actually introduced to his music through my boy, Schoolboyy (check his music out too), back in 2009 and also found out that SeDrew was affiliated with a fellow Toronto rapper, JD Era (who is signed with Raekwon’s ICE H20 label).
So he put me on to 2 of his mixtapes at first and I was feeling his flow. He is sort of a punchline rapper, but at the same time, he can say some real stuff. His voice was what I had to get used to in the beginning, because the man sounded like he was a 16 year old white kid going through puberty, so basically think of McLovin from Superbad and go from there, but I’m not trying to diss the dude, simply stating my observations. Fuelled by beats from Johnny Juliano, his flow suited the beats provided for him. I like the fact that he emphasizes his passion and love for Las Vegas, because let’s be real, unless you’ve watched Heroes (I’m still screaming FUCK NBC), you don’t know much about what SeDrew calls ‘The Veg,’ and he makes it his priority to teach everyone about the life of Las Vegas.
“Man, I’m from Sin City where nothing’s equal, where they love the tourists more than the fucking people. 7th and 8th graders got the same guns police do, so every month Columbine’s got another sequel” – Let It Out
I will admit, since I first started listening to him, he hasn’t really progressed or regressed. He’s basically just stuck in the middle and hasn’t really separated himself, but he puts out music like crazy, so you have to respect his work ethic. Some of the flow that he’s being using in 2008, I can hear it now, so that’s why I can kind of say that he’s stuck on the same path.
The reason why I wanted to do a profile of him is because I wanted to shed light on the fact that there are rappers from every region that are overlooked by the bigger cities like LA, Houston, New York, Atlanta, and Miami. Las Vegas is the biggest illusion in the United States, because the world sees one thing, but the life of it is another, so of course you need an ambassador to show you the proper way. SeDrew is that ambassador, and hopefully you’ll take in what he has to say.
These are the two mixtapes that I was introduced to and are I feel are his best work, but as I said before, he has more out that you find on his twitter page (@Price_Is_King):
