In 2011, I was introduced to ‘the writings of Skyzoo’ and since that time, I’ve been hooked on his music, practically listening to every album & mixtape he’s put out since, so it was only right that I would take this in when it dropped. I’m not all that familiar with Torae, so it would be something new that I’d be getting acquainted with, given the fact that a lot of music hasn’t been saying much to me since the 1st quarter of the year, and now that summer is approaching, I only look for the music to continue hitting hard on all cylinders. It must be a Brooklyn thing for the two to come together and drop a collaborative album with some established and upcoming producers like: !llmind, Antman Wonder (who collaborated with Skyzoo for An Ode To Reasonable Doubt), Black Milk, DJ Premier, and Jahlil Beats to name a few. Given that Brooklyn is home to some of the best lyricists to grace the microphone, there’s definitely no shortage of bars from start to finish.
For Hip Hop heads who have the thirst of that ‘real Hip Hop’ appeal, then this is definitely the album for you, as it has that Boom Bap that many look for, as well as the significant bounce that gives it replay value for quite some time, including one of the more popular tracks All In Together (The Handoff is one of my personal favourites, however). There’s a good dosage of features as well, including Duck Down labelmate, Sean Price, and also another rapper I listen to frequently, Blu. The back and forth, give and go flow that Torae and Skyzoo bring to the table is what makes it more than just another good album, because along with the strength of production, there’s a lot to look forward to on this, and it’s definitely something I’ll be listening to in the coming days, weeks, and months. I suggest you do the same. The link is in the photo. Enjoy.
