Kendrick Lamar – Compton (Featuring Dr. Dre)

In preparation for good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kendrick Lamar did a few things: Finally revealed the tracklist, although it had surfaced a few days earlier, but I thought it was fake (turns out that it wasn’t), then he released the pre-orders for the standard and deluxe versions of his album (iTunes) that’s slated to released October 22nd (we all know it’s going to leak at least a week before, but I’m still buying it), and THEN, he dropped an official leak (hinting towards Just Blaze about it only a couple of hours before).

This song has flare, it has bounce, Kendrick’s signature flow that was evident in Dr. Dre as well, but as the homie Bruce said before when The Recipe came out, “it doesn’t matter who wrote the verse, if it’s sick, it’s sick” (Along those lines at least), and it’s true. Dr. Dre complemented the track very well, and since it’s called ‘Compton’ who else would you want on it, right? It really does have a west coast feel to it, and this is a great anthem for a city that’s been dying for some positivity for a change. Kendrick Lamar is sure to bring that to the table. Can’t wait for the album, Enjoy this.
