Let’s Give Thanks – Vent XXXI

In Canada, today is Thanksgiving. In the United States, it doesn’t happen for another month, but there really is never a bad time to appreciate the things that you have in life, right? Exactly. It shouldn’t be necessary for there to be a specific holiday for people to come together to appreciate their lives. Hallmark Holidays are common, but I know that the origin of Thanksgiving came from the Harvest season, and there’s a lot of things to be appreciated over the course of a year. It’s like an anniversary of sorts within the family.

Everyone goes through rough times and sometimes that’s not the case and people have great times with their lives. No one’s life is perfect so to be standing on your own two feet year after year, there’s certain appreciation that goes with that. I know for a fact that there are many times when we feel like giving it up and saying to ourselves that we can’t do it anymore, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and through the coal, there’s a diamond just in reach. You just have to continue pushing through and it’ll happen for you, and if you have a good support system around you, it makes it easier for you to make that happen for you.

I’m thankful for the fact that I’ve gone through a tumultuous time in the past and there are still people who have my back. There’s no judgement, but there’s always straight up honesty. Can you trust everyone? No, but can you at least have faith in people? Of course you can. I’m not a religious person, but what I do have an appreciation for is that whatever higher power or spirit that’s around, it has guided me to a rough, but progressive shift in my life.

I just need to free to my thoughts, and Lord knows I know better

I’m thankful to have gone through experiences that are helping me shape to be a man of tomorrow, today. It’s crazy that people forget where they come from and the people who helped them get to where they are. Life happens, we can’t help that; people come and go, and we just move on from that, because there aren’t enough minutes in an hour, hours in a day, or days in the year to try to fix glass with bare hands. You get cut, you put a band-aid on it, and then what? The scars remain…

Be thankful for the people who come into your life, because everyone is there for a reason. Whether it be for the good or bad, these things happen for us to have experiences to grow from. You never want to regress in life, you always want to progress. Move forward, head in a different direction than what you want to avoid. There are detours, but always do your best to stay on track. People will show you a different side to them that will open up your eyes and make you see them in a different light, so it’s best to take from those experiences and use them as tools to move forward with; it keeps you aware of what people can turn into when you’re down and nearly out.

I’m thankful for the people who support me in what I’m doing. It may be unorthodox, it may be a leap of faith, but you have to believe in something and go after what you want. No one said it would be easy, so I’m thankful for the fact that I’m able to go after what I want to do and one day, it will pay off, that’s a given. It’s all a process, and hopefully you look at what you have in your life to give your own thanks and appreciation to what you have and what you’ve gone through to get to where you are, or if you’re in the stages of getting there. It’ll all happen, just continue doing what you’re doing to help yourself get there. Stay determined, but most importantly, always give thanks.
