Now, the ‘Trill’ movement has been around for about 20 years, if you dig deep into the Hip Hop archives with UGK being the engineers of said movement. It was founded in Texas, and that’s where it has always been from, so when rappers use certain elements, they pay homage to the founders. The misconception these days is when being ‘Trill’ went mainstream with the likes of Drake, A$AP Rocky, and SpaceGhostPurrp carrying the weight in recent years.
This mixtape (forwarded to me on Twitter – shout out to Q) embraces the roots from which ‘Trill’ was born. Hailing from Texas, ReekSavage brings out elements that fans of A$AP Rocky & SGP can appreciate, and it’s pretty consistent from track to track. It’s something to vibe to, but it just adds to the claim that no mater how many people copy the elements, you can’t duplicate it better than those who live trill. Enjoy.
