I was either in Grade 12 or in the first year of college when I first heard of Daft Punk. Me and my friend Justin were always going ‘sample hunting’ and it was Kanye West’s ‘Stronger’ that I found the sample for and thus that’s how I heard of them. I downloaded some songs from them, and what I didn’t realize was that a lot of Hip Hop artists sampled them, and I could understand why – they had a different sound that wasn’t quite rock, and wasn’t quite techno; it was just dope music (Technologic & Robot Rock are my favourites). Today their newest album streamed (and leaked), and the excitement is crazy – I didn’t know they had such a following, but then again, that’s what I appreciate about a lot of people who just appreciate music all around. It’s cool to see, and this is a cool album that you should hear. I highly encourage it. Enjoy.
