The Known Unknown teams up with The Main Ingredient Party to bring you an unforgettable show featuring up & coming New York duo Lion Babe, opening act KJ and Toronto’s very own sultry songstress Shi Wisdom.

The Known Unknown is committed to giving artists on the come-up a platform to perform and more recently, founder Tika Simone, is using the stage to bridge the gap between Canadian indie artists and International indie artists.  The Known Unknown and The Main Ingredient Party are excited to bring Torontonians this amazing show and afterparty that will take place on Friday, May 24th at Revival Bar.

About LION BABE

Lion Babe is a duo out of New York comprised of singer Gillian Hervey and producer Lucus Goodman. They are a dynamic fusion of neo-soul, electric and R&B and have received praise for their single “Treat Me Like Fire” all over the Internet as well as accolades from industry counterparts such as Solange Knowles, Flying Lotus & Mark Ronson. This will be their first show in Toronto.

About SHI WISDOM

Renee ‘Shi’ Wisdom is an award winning neo-soul R&B artist and classically trained musician, born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Her first chart topping single entitled “LoveSpeak” was released and hit the radio airwaves in spring of 2011, introducing the singer songwriter to R&B-soul and alternative music industry leaders and enthusiasts locally and on an international level.

Influenced by the works of musical legends such as Prince, Smokie Norful, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, and Billie Holiday; Wisdom has skillfully mastered her craft, producing an all-encompassing sound that embodies both her strong musical background as well as her creative edge seldom heard in other recording artists of her generation. Being a level 8 classically trained Pianist at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Shi was recently the recipient of the “2013 artist to watch” award from the Canadian Urban Music Conference. Having taken the stage at some of Toronto’s leading music festivals such as the Manifesto Main Stage, the TD Blockorama Stage and the Kuumba festival at the Harbourfront Centre; she has successfully solidified her position as a leading female artist in the country, selling out her very first solo headlining concert in Toronto in less than 24 hours.

Amongst her most recent noteworthy accomplishments is landing an impressive placement on hip hop legend DMX’s upcoming gospel album. In addition to making her own music, Shi has helped write songs for some of the industry’s leading artists such as Roc Nation assignee Rita Ora, whose debut single “RIP” is a track co-written by Shi along with long-time supporter and Toronto Hip-hop extraordinaire, YMCMB recording artist Drake.

On identifying her genre of sound, Shi carefully explains “When we put labels on things as well as people, we bind them to those ideals and leave them no room for growth. And without growth there’s no evolution.” Sit back and witness the evolution of Shi Wisdom.
