Funny story, in 2011 (or late 2010, I don’t know), I was in a diner by Humber River Hospital (the west end of Toronto), and casually having breakfast, Maestro Fresh Wes sits in front of my table. I (and the person I was with) didn’t realize who it was until the waitresses went into full groupie mode. It was quite hilarious. Story over.
I support RISE Poetry and all of the endeavors that they put forth to support people expressing themselves and help them become better people in whatever (positive) direction of life they’re heading in. What other way to help people become better than to have some legends in the house along with budding figures to help guide people to strive to be better? That’s something a lot of people are looking for, so why not head out and get a lesson? It’s only $5 (ONLY FIVE DOLLARS?!), so if you’re in the Toronto area (granted that the weather cooperates), check it out. Guests include: John River, Hyf the Gypsy Sun, Monday Blake, and many others like any other Monday night at RISE. If you’ve yet to attend, you should definitely go. All info is on the flyer. Enjoy.
